LoFff Summer 2011 Africa Collection - Bubble London Trade Show

LoFff Summer 2011 Africa Collection - Bubble London Trade Show

The theme for LoFff's Summer 2011 collection is Africa. With its diversity and beauty Africa offers a rich source of inspiration for a very fun and summery collection.

The timeless African elements were chosen including the blue of the Tuareg and the river Nile, the pink of the south African Prothea flower and the flamingo, the green of the rainforest and of course a lot of tribal influences from the many tribes in this continent, including lots of beads!

LoFff designs recurring elements which are common to all collections including amazing petticoats, very sweet dresses, cute cardigans...for hot summer days, but definitely for a fresh spring morning too. But this time you will also find decorations with elephants, rhino’s, Zulu bead designs, and of course the well known LoFff Love shirts.

Helen Gordon Launches New Brand at Bubble London

Helen Gordon Launches New Brand at Bubble London

Helen Gordon’s exclusive new collection is a nostalgic journey into childhood. Helen launched her business at the beginning of 2010 with a range of clothing, accessories and interior products inspired by traditional fairytales and vintage fabrics.

Her designs are classic and practical, evoking a simpler, innocent era with their use of retro patterns and naïve motifs in a striking palette of colors.

Helen trained and worked as a textile designer for 10 years before a successful career in Buying working for high street retailers. After the birth of her third child, Helen decided to develop her own range of children’s merchandise using her artistic talents and market sector experience, created around her own unique printed fabric designs. She has produced something different: the charm of vintage combined with a classic, contemporary feel.

Helen explains, “I want to make clothes and accessories that are classic in their simplicity and beautiful in design. But I also want them to be practical and appropriate: young girls shouldn’t be wearing strapless dresses and tiny bikinis. I’ve designed bright clothes which are fun and funky, which evoke an era of simpler childhood and which let kids be kids.”

Rockabye-Baby launched two new collections at Bubble London: Groupies and Little Bug-R.

Groupies is for Rockabye-Baby girls who have grown up and have an edge and style of their own. With 50's style skirts and dresses and tattoo inspired tees this collection is perfect for little trendsetters.

Little Bug-R is full of fun with designs that say "can you dit it" or "slugs and bugs and rock n roll". It is an entire collection for kids who love rockin' outdoors, with the highlight being all over bug print playsuits.

All clothing comes packaged in a cool 10 inch record sleeve, making it the perfect gift!

Steiff Spring/Summer 2011 Collection - Bubble London Trade Show

Summer is coming and so is Steiff Collection’s Spring/Summer Collection 2011. For the coming summer season, the children’s clothing collection will be expanded to include three additional sections. Steiff’s home textiles range will offer bed linen and towelling goods, among others. And just in time for summer, the company will launch its first ever swimwear range for little ones.

Steiff Collection’s Newborn and Minis range offers three themes for the coming summer
season. The first is uncomplicated fashion and all-round comfort for little ones. The second theme focuses on the interplay between colors and shape. And the third theme is inspired by the element water, which provides the basis for the colors of the outfits.

HOW I CLEAN MY BRUSHES

They say that nothing beats the effectivity of washing with soap and water than rinsing with hand sanitizer or alcohol when it comes to fighting germs. And I think the same principle applies to everything that deals with cleanliness, even to washing brushes.

I do no spend money to buy myself a brush cleaner, because I don't like how it leaves bubbles on my brushes, and makes it feel sticky after drying. And having a brush cleanser gives you reason to slack off from washing your brushes with soap and water.

Things needed for washing: water, dish, joy dishwashing liquid, tray, towel.

My brushes, patiently waiting while I prepare their much- awaited bath. :)

First, I wet my brushes.

Then I dip it in a dish with Joy antibacterial dishwashing liquid. Why do I use dishwashing liquid to rinse my brushes? First of all, it's anti- bacterial. Secondly, it's cheap. And third, it doesn't make my brushes soft, and lastly, the odor of the dishwashing liquid does not stay. It evaporates as soon as the brushes are dried off completely.

Make sure that you carefully and thoroughly rinse your brushes.

Brushes cleaned! I place them on a tray with a towel for air- drying.

I air- dry my brushes. :)

I let my brushes dry for around 30- 45 minutes.

And my brushes are already clean and ready for work! :)

PRO TIPS (COURTESY OF JIGS MAYUGA, MAKE- UP ARTIST FOR L'OREAL):

- Do not clean your brushes with shampoo, nor finish the rinsing off with conditioner. It'll make your brushes soft, therefore making it lose its shape and effectiveness.
- Make sure that you clean your brushes every week with soap and water. If you are using your brushes everyday, a brush cleanser can be handy, as soap and water rinsing can be time consuming. But make it a point to rinse your brushes weekly
- Make sure that your brushes are completely dry before storing them. Storing your brushes while still damp can trap pungent odor, stickiness, and attract bacteria.
- Make sure that you let your brushes lie down when drying them. Drying them in an upward position can lead to further damage. The excess water will go inside the ferrule, which will contribute to the loosening up of the weaves and stitches, then it will lead to hair fall and shedding.

HAULS FOR THE WEEK

Hello hello!

Long time no blog!

I apologize for the absence, my dear readers. I've been heck busy ever since I started with school and rehearsals. I barely have time to play with my new make- ups anymore! But as soon as my schedule loosens up a bit, I promise to post all of my pending drafts!

Anyway, here are my hauls for the week. :)

Puddy got a new silicone sleeve to protect it from accidental falls.

I don't actually like sporting sweet scents because it makes me feel light- headed. But this Victoria's Secret holiday collection scent smells so good. The sweetness is just right. And I love it! It reminds me of buttermilk pancakes.

A purchase from Landmark.

I scored this fab dancing shoes from Carmelette's in Landmark. I was lemming for one since barefoot dancing is harsh for the skin on my feet. Capezio's was too expensive at 1500php. And I got this one for 595php only! And the brand has it in different colors too! And the shoe bag is a plus. :)

WEEE!!! No more cracked feet!

I also had a pedicure from Nail-A-Holics nail spa. Nail polish is Orly in Haute Red.

NEXT POST IS FOR JEAN. ILL SHOW YOU GUYS HOW I CLEAN MY BRUSHES. :)

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: MAC MINERALIZE SKINFINISH SPF 15 FOUNDATION IN NC40

Here's an initial review on MAC Mineralize Skinfinish foundation in NC40

PRICE: (APPROXIMATELY 1800PHP+ PLUS MISC. FEES)

PLACE BOUGHT: MAC ONLINE

OTHER LOCATIONS: INTERNATIONAL MAC STORES. THIS ONE IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE PHILIPPINES

THE VERDICT:

I've tried MAC's Studio Tech foundation and I was quite impressed. And for my second MAC foundation, I'm trying Mineralize skinfinish. Unfortunately, it's unavailable here, and it will not be released here as well. So for my next purchase via Shally Mateo's pre- ordering pool, I got myself MAC's latest foundation, Mineralize Skinfinish with SPF 15. I love MAC's mineralize line because I love how it gives me a flawless and glowing look.

Let's now review the product.

The packaging is the same as Studio Tech. Bulky, but lightweight. It also comes with a MAC sponge underneath. I don't really use the sponge because I prefer applying foundation with my fingers. The top is also covered with a foil just like Studio Tech, to help preserve the freshness and quality of the foundation.

Has a free sponge, which I don't use because I prefer using my fingers in applying foundation.

Consistency is smooth and whipped. It glides on easily. It is also very pigmented. A little goes a long way. It is also buildable.

It's just like you're wearing your second skin. Coverage is sheer, yet it manages to neutralize some marks. It is also easily absorbed into the skin, and it leaves a dewy matte finish.

It's unscented, so it's good for those who don't like perfumed face products.

Staying power is good. It stays put the whole day, and it doesn't run off nor melt. It just stays put. However, oily skinned people might need a mattifying powder in hand, as this can induce face oil a bit especially in humid temperature and conditions.

I bought a shade lighter than my skin tone. My skin match in MAC's shading is NC42. But I've read from a blog that the shades of the MSF foundation are a shade darker when compared to the studio fix powders. The whipped consistency may have something to do with it. Besides, I've turned 2 shades darker last summer. But my skin will lighten up in no time. But since this gives a sheer coverage, I've no problem with the shade. I can apply it lightly, or build it up.

I've no plans of buying this again. It's not that it's not good. I just tried it because I'm interested in it. And knowing myself, I would crave for another brand. But I'm happy with this foundation. And it's my IT foundation as of the moment. I use it alternately with my beloved Bobbi Brown skin foundation.
