Here's my initial review on ELIANTO AURORA EYESHADOWS

Elianto's Aurora Eyeshadow is the newest addition to their famous eyeshadow products. The eyeshadows are matte variants that come in tons of candy- colored shades. The new formula promises great color pay- off and staying power the whole day for pretty peepers.

THE VERDICT:

After a year of not going back to Elianto's outlet in Mall of Asia because of my bad experience with one of their SAs, I decided to check the store because they're on sale up to 70% off.

The thing that attracted me the most is this lovely eyeshadow line called Aurora. They have tons of candy- colored eyeshadows, all at 119php each.

I've blogged here before that Elianto's eyeshadows are quite a good buy. All their eyeshadows have excellent pigment pay- off. 

I'm quite impressed with the colors. My eyes were magnetized by these two colors. Candy Pink and Venetian Red. I was actually looking for a red and pink eyeshadow. I was thinking of ordering MAC's eyeshadows in Passionate and Sushi Flower but I thought that I would want to get something cheap because I can't really wear these colors on a daily basis. I just want to have some candy colors in my eyeshadow collection.

Based on the swatches above, both have impressive color pay- off. Another innovation in their formula is the buttery texture of their eyeshadows so application is smooth and easy. Another plus is the lovely graphics embossed on the eyeshadow.

I also swatched this on my skin and honestly, it took me quite a while to remove the swatches on my hands so I had to erase the swatches with a cleansing oil.

This line looks promising. But the only con of the Elianto eyeshadows is it cracks easily. So you really have to take care of your palette/ eyeshadow.

So far, this product is very promising. For 119php, I'm quite impressed with the eyeshadows. And if you buy this, whether you like it or not, it wouldn't feel too bad because it's not as if you spent 800php for each item. :D

THE VERDICT:

I fell in love with the blue- black color. It's the color that I've been looking for.

It's in the matte variant, and two swipes will give you that lovely blue- black color.

In terms of quality, Elianto Nail Polishes don't chip easily. The bottle is nice and the applicator brush is thick enough to provide a good amount of color.

Sorry for the dirty application. And I also keep my nails uber short too. :D

This is a very economical choice since it has good quality and the nail polish line has an impressive array of colors.

I'm planning to try some of their nail polish colors next time. :D

SPEND VS. SAVE: SILVER EYESHADOWS

For this edition of Spend vs. Save, let's look at one of the basic staples in a make- up stash, the silver eyeshadow.

the silver eyeshadow is a cult fave. It's a perfect highlighter and goes best with almost any eyeshadow, most especially black and navy blue e/s's.

MAC: Well, for the nth time, I'll keep on saying that MAC is the best eyeshadow therefore, it's the HG of e/s's for me. Idol Eyes is a silver eyeshadow with violet and gold mid and undertones with tons of flecks of silver glitter. It's in the lustre variant so you have to apply it for quite a number of times (which is the cons of the lustre variant) to get its maximum effect. But applying it once gives you a subtle noticeable sparkle. It costed me 800php.

A lot of reviews said that the lustre variant of MAC is not so good that's why it's best to steer clear from this type because what you see in the pot is not what you'll get. They may appear lovely in the pot but you'll just get 50% of the effect on your eyes. Well, this may be true because lustre variants just give you a sheer color pay- off. This is also true for their lipsticks in the same type. At least, the lustre e/s's of MAC are buildable so you could manipulate the intensity of the color.

ELIANTO: The silver eyeshadow I have is frosted. It costs 119php. It's good enough. Perhaps this is one of the best e/s's of Elianto. It's a frosted super light- gray color. It has no steel under or midtones so what makes this silver is the frosting in it. The bummer about Elianto e/s's is their staying power. It might appear lovely once applied but after a few hours, you'll wonder where the heck did your silver eyeshadow go.

Overall, Elianto's silver e/s is good enough for those recessionista beauties out there. But with the quality, hmm..maybe not. But at least, it's cheap so it won't hurt too much when you start hating it. MAC's e/s's have good pigment pay- off but the variant dictates the come out of each product. So if you're planning to purchase Idol Eyes, it's a good buy. I don't know why some people don't like it. Generally, they would say that they couldn't see any silver color. Instead, they just see tons of silver glitter. I'm liking Idol Eyes because it appears silver on my skin. Maybe because they're fair- skinned so lustre's gonna have a hard time working on their skin color. So I suggest, if you are fair- skinned, go for Electra, a silver eyeshadow in the frost variant. And if you're a morena, Idol Eyes will do you justice. :)

SPEND VS. SAVE: BROWN EYESHADOWS

I have two brown eyeshadows in my stash. One is MAC in Glamour Check! and Elianto Dark Brown. Both are dark in color. The only difference is the Elianto brand is matte and MAC has a bit of glitter.



From a farther view, Both may seem to have great color pay- offs. I have swiped per product twice on my hands.



Mac is easy to apply and it feels richer than the cornstarch- feel of the Elianto. Elianto has a nice pigment pay- off but since the powder is loose, it feels messy to apply because the powder on your brush falls off.


Here's a closer look of the eyeshadows:








As you can see, MAC has better pigmentation than Elianto. Expensive eyeshadows have a great characteristic and this is the creaminess or the "buttery feel" of the eyeshadows which make them easy to apply, long- lasting and the color pay- off is great.



It's always best to settle for the best quality but you can find nice products that can do also. MAC has a very good quality, so to speak. Elianto is not bad also. It's eyeshadow line is quite good as well. The pots last long also. If you have money to spare, try MAC and if you're beauty is on a budget, Elianto would be your best bet.

Black and brown are the staple colors in creating a dramatic look for the eyes. I personally love these eyeshadow colors because I love how it enhances my eyes. Smoky eye make- up is a reinvention of the vintage 20’s look and I’m such a lover of the era. Not sure what to wear on your next occasion? Then maybe these dramatic eyes will give you tons of ideas.

To balance the overall look, I just used a nude lipstick then applied gloss on top of it. I used a peach colored blush to give the cheeks a hint of glow so as not to clash with the eye make- up. contoured my cheeks using a brown blush to draw the attention to my eyes. This look could give you tons of possibilities! From a red gown, to a high- waisted black skirt and a white tank top, to a brown or golden colored dress and a whole lot more! Now don’t forget your chandelier earrings and you’re off to stun everyone in your occasion!

EYE SPY: THE GREENER PASTURES

ARE YOU SCARED OF GREEN EYESHADOWS? WELL, IT'S ACTUALLY WEARABLE. DON'T BE AFRAID, YOU WON'T LOOK LIKE A WALKING GRASSLAND. Green is actually a nice and wearable color. A certain change in lipcolor will add drama and style to those green eyes. :)

HOW TO APPLY:

1. Apply the elianto golden yellow eyeshadow over all the eye crease as base

2. Starting from the outer to the inner arch of the eyes, apply the elianto eyeshadow in forest green

3. Apply the elianto eyeshadow in kiwi on the inner eye. Create a color fade effect from dark to light green

4. Apply the mac pigment in golden yellow on the center of the crease for a deep set effect.

5. Apply mascara then let it dry

6. Apply liquid eyeliner for additional drama

7. Apply the elianto eyeshadow in black over the brows to boost the color of your brows. Make sure to follow your arch

8. Apply the elianto eyeshadow in golden yellow below the eyebrows

So there you go! think you can't wear green? Of course you can! it's a matter of experimentation and creativity. I just thickened the coverage but to make this an everyday wear, apply thinly over the eyes. And make sure to wear a stunning white outfit! ;)

THE LOW- DOWN:

If there's one product that you'll love and at the same time hate by elianto, it's their eyeshadow line. They have a gorgeous buffet of eyeshadow shades per color ranging from matte to glitter-ed ones. Some are highly- pigmented, some are not. Best for everyday wear because of it's light coverage and best used professionally when applied with water. But in my case, i hate it when i have to put water in my eyeshadows.

THE REVIEW:

Well, not bad for 119php per pot. My personal favorites are the golden yellow, olive green, purple, peach pink and navy blue. These colors have been made when the chemists at Elianto were eager to work. The latter, well, were made when they were slacking off or relaxing. Some colors are just not worth my money, but will do me fine in some cases. The golden yellow is perfect for highlighting. I love it when I use it under my eyes because it brings my peepers out on stage. The black color has silver flecks and looks good as a black eyeshadow but the bummer here is, when you sweat, it turns to gray. Well at least, that's a two-in-one product. Black to gray eyeshadow. haha!

Sadly, Elianto may have poor pressing machines because their powders crumble easily. AS IN SUPER SENSITIVE. I had one incident where I just purchased a navy blue eyeshadow and when i went in my car to check it, it went from solid to loose eyeshadow. i went back and demanded for an exchange and the worst part is, they have BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HANDLING, and to cut the story short, i exited Elianto in a very bad mood realizing I've wasted my money. I called their main office to report the incident. And much much much more to my dismay, even their telephone service is awful. I was promised for a follow- up but I ended up following- up myself. It was a very bad experience for me and swore on my dead body that I'll never purchase from that darned store ever.

Anyway, back to the product. I have no regrets (well, a little) with this purchase. This palette has served me well but i didn't get to use every color. I should have saved for some mac eyeshadows. But I love cheap thrills. So I tried my luck on these eyeshadows. Some colors have nice pay- offs but the latter don't. Lesson learned, I'll just buy my personal faves if ever i don't have money to buy some expensive ones yet. And for those who want to invest and try Elianto eyeshadows, overall, it's a good buy. but try your hand on a palette of 4 to test the products then buy another palette if you liked the product. And hey, it's a gift from my husband. :)
