PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: JEANNE BY LANVIN EDP

Here's an initial review on JEANNE BY LANVIN EDP

PRICE: GIVEN TO ME AS A GIFT (PROBABLY AROUND 4K IN MALLS)
PLACE BOUGHT: N/A
OTHER LOCATIONS: http://leperfumerie.multiply.com; malls

DESCRIPTION (taken from fragrantica.com)

Jeanne Lanvin by Lanvin is a floral fruity fragrance for women. Jeanne Lanvin is a new fragrance and it was introduced in 2008. The nose behind this fragrance is Anne Flipo. Top notes are blackberry, citruses and pear; middle notes are peony, freesia and raspberry; base notes are sandalwood, amber and musk.

THE VERDICT:

Lanvin's Eclat D' Arpege is my HG scent. Since last year, it's the only perfume that I've been using. And since my Eclat is finished, it's time for me to get a new perfume, and a new one.

It's been a while since my last perfume haul. I've tried a lot of perfumes for a week prior to purchasing. There are a lot of great smelling perfumes, but it's so hard to choose.

And when I am already ready to buy, mom gave me this swell gift. A Jeanne perfume by Lanvin. She knows how much I love Lanvin. So she got me a Lanvin perfume again.

This is actually a blind buy, according to her. It looked more simple as compared to the other Lanvin perfumes, yet its simplicity is inviting. It seemed to her that this perfume smells good.

And mom, you're damn right. :))))

A bit of info: Jeanne is created as a tribute to Jeanne Lanvin, the creator of the fashion line. According to Anne Flipo, the perfumer behind this scent, said that this is how she would "perfume- ize" Jeanne's personality: fun, spontaneous, and sophisticated.

Let's now review the product.

The iconic mother and daughter insignia of Lanvin. Here's a trivia. The mother and daughter icon has been the traditional image of Lanvin because the creator, Jeanne Lanvin, became famous in France in the 1800's for designing complementing clothes for mothers and their children.

The bottle might be too big to bring in your bag. And it's quite heavy too. You might also find the ribbon tied around the bottle quite annoying because it keeps on falling. So I just removed mine, though it adds up to the sweet charm of the perfume.

The style of the bottle is classic, clean, and simple. And I love it.

At first spray, the berries are prominent, which gives me this happy vibe whenever I put this on. Shortly, the florals starts settling in. The dry down is a lovely light floral scent with a hint of fruit, and enveloped in musk, which gives this scent a sophisticated allure.

The staying power of Lanvin's perfumes suck. But this one lingered. Not that long, but longer when compared with my Eclat's staying power. It stays for an hour or two. Technically, it's not great, considering that this is an EDP, and the sillage of this perfume is high. But when compared with the Rumeur and Eclat, Jeanne's staying power is great!

I love that this scent can go from day to night. On gloomy and rainy days, a spritz of Jeanne perks up my mood. This is also a great summer scent because of the fruit- iness of it.

Hubby loves this perfume so much. He said that it smells sweet, simple, and non- complex. It's feminine, but not overly sweet or too floral, which can be a case for "feminine" perfumes. This is perfect for young adults, or for people who love delicate scents.

And another great thing, it's guy approved. My guy friends love it. Here are some of their comments when I had them smell Jeanne:

"It smells simple. I like it."
"It smells fresh. It reminds me the beautiful things that I find in a girl that I like."
"Oh finally, a fruity scent that does not make me feel light- headed."
"It smells young. I love it."

Another great perfume from Lanvin. And another HG for me!

MY HG BRANDS FOR SCENTS

Okay, so here's a run- down of my 5 fave scents of all time.

MY SCENT TYPE:

I love floral- scented perfumes. I like it with a hint of sweetness, either vanilla, berries, magnolia, etc. then it should be balanced by musk. But overall, it should be dominantly floral- smelling. I also love musky scents. I like The Body Shop's white musk but I find the scent too "manly" for me. Overall, my type of scent would be something that smells fresh, clean, feminine, fun, sensual and sexy. Of course I can't find all of these in one perfume so I have five of my all- time favorite perfumes. I swear, I don't purchase any other perfumes but these!

JENNIFER LOPEZ'S GLOW BY J.LO
- This is probably the most good- smelling perfume ever by J.Lo. It is perfect for night outs and any formal occasion. This scent is like a mix of fruit, floral, musk and vanilla. It smells very sexy and clean. I already emptied two 100mls of this. :)

PHILOSOPHY'S FALLING IN LOVE PERFUME
- One of the most good- smelling perfumes I have tried. This is a combination of blackberry, vanilla and balanced with musk. This scent smells very sensual and as it settles on your skin, it already passes off as a romantic smelling- perfume on your skin. Philosophy described this as "the perfume made for women to be loved by men". :D I already emptied 2 bottles of this. :)

DAVIDOFF COOL WATER FOR WOMEN

- This has been my perfume ever since I was in high school. This is like a mix of fresh florals and citrus, which makes this a sporty scent for women. I would describe this as a fun yet flirty scent, which suits my personality. No wonder, I've been using this for 5 years now. :) I already emptied five bottles of this scent. :)

LANVIN ECLAT D' ARPEGE

- Currently my HG scent. The scent is similar to D&G's Light Blue, but it's much better. It's doesn't smell astringent- ish, unlike d&g. It's a mix of lemon and different kinds of florals. When it settles on your skin, it starts to smell clean, soft and feminine. That's why I'm so loving this scent. Apart from that, Mr. R loves it too because it is not too overpowering.

ANNA SUI SECRET WISH

- Another lovely scent that I came across when I was in Singapore. This smells very fun and sexy, which reminds me of a fairy (think Tinkerbell). It's like a mixture of citrus, florals and fruits. It's good enough to wear either during the day or night. My playful nature maybe inclined me to like (hopefully love) this scent.

YESTERDAY'S HAUL AND A LOVELY DISCOVERY :)

I ran out of body care products last week and I just managed to shop yesterday because I was uber busy last week. Imagine, I've been using hotel shampoo and body wash for my face last week because I'm already out of products! I've always hated hotel shampoos because they never fail to make my hair dry and frizzy and I dried out my face from using a body wash :(.

Good thing it was my rest day yesterday so I got 9 hours of sleep and I was able to move in slow- mo because I don't have any schedule for yesterday, except for a party in Penguin Malate after watching the closing of Tanghalang Pilipino's Virgin Labfest 5, which all took place in the evening.

So here's my haul for yesterday. I've been using Clairol's Herbal Essences shampoo. I just realized L'oreal Elseve is too expensive. Unfortunately, there weren't any stocks left so I ended up buying Elseve anyway. I tried their new Royal Jelly shampoo formula. In all fairness to this product, my hair feels smoother and more bouncy right after usage.

I'm no conditioner user because I hate how it takes time to rinse it off your hair. But I've realized that at the middle of the day, my hair's prone to entanglement and frizz so I made a vow to use a conditioner starting yesterday. Besides, I always here cracks and snaps whenever I comb my wet hair so that doesn't sound really good. I always see chunks of strands on my comb! Imagine the damage that I've been doing to my hair for years! I bought the L'oreal Damage Care with cement- ceramide technology. And I love how it eases my combing sessions and it lessened my hair fall and hair damage because my hair is very silky and smooth. :D

I also bought a deodorant. I swear by Nivea's cream stick formula and I love how it lessened the darkening of my underarms incurred by Secret deodorant! ):x.

I also bought Ponds Perfect Matte because I don't want to use a body wash as my facial soap again so this will last me for around 2 months at least. I also bought a travel size Perfect Matte facial wash because I'll be needing it for my play. I like perfect matte because it also has scrubs so I cleanse and exfoliate my face in one washing. And I like how my face feels matte after patting it dry with a towel.

SO WHAT'S MY LOVELY DISCOVERY FOR YESTERDAY????

I've already emptied by 30ml bottle of Eclat D' Arpege by Lanvin. My mom bought herself a Stella McCartney Sheer perfume 100ml from Singapore and since I have no more perfume, I ended up using hers. And Sheer smells so good. My mom keeps on telling me that it's hers andshe wants to use it for a long time. So in short, she doesn't want me using it. Haha. :) But I understand. It's her gift for herself so it's justified that she has a say on whatever I plan to do with that perfume.

After hauling my body products. I asked her if she could buy me a cologne so I won't be using her Sheer anymore. I had Calgon's Tahitian Orchid in mind because Lanvin is expensive.
Besides, I plan to buy one in a 100ml bottle when I get my pay check.

I went to Bescost, a px store in Cash and Carry (it's a stone's throw away from our house) in hopes of finding Tahitian Orchid. Unfortunately, they don't have it. Before I went out of the store. I asked the saleslady if they have Lanvin Eclat D' Arpege. She said yes. I asked how much.

"1300php, 100ml."

WHAT?!?!?!?

I was sooo surprised to know that the price is SOOOOO CHEAP for a Lanvin Perfume. Not to mention, 1300php is for the biggest bottle already. So I asked her why.

Apparently, they are selling testers of hundreds of perfume brands. THESE ARE NOT KNOCK- OFFS. These are all- original and they came straight from their manufacturers. They are cheap because these testers are what you find in malls and you spray some on yourself to have a whiff of the perfume/s.

The only difference is, these testers don't have their caps on (refer to my small Lanvin bottle on the pic below). Another thing is, they don't have their cases, boxes whatsoever because these are testers so they come in a box labeled as TESTERS.

Imagine, CK One 100ml costs 1300php, J.LO Glow 100ml costs 1200php, Anna Sui Secret Wish 100ml costs 1300php and a whole lot more perfumes that don't even exceed 2000php!

Talk about getting a BARGAIN huh?

I got myself my HG for scents. And I am soooo happy because I was able to spare myself 3000php+ if I buy this in malls. Landmark sells the 100ml bottle at 4850php plus. Whew! At least I could spend my 3000php on something else because of this rather LOVELY DISCOVERY.

The not- tester- variant of Lanvin 100ml is at 600php. It includes the cap and box. But I won't be needing it anyway. I could use the 300php to gas up my ride. :)

I might try Anna Sui Secret Wish next time. At least, I don't have to worry shelling out thousands of bucks to buy myself a perfume. Thank goodness for these testers. :)

I also found this sticker on the bottle that states the essences used to create this LOVELY scent

TOP NOTES: SICILIAN LEMON LEAVES, LILAC GREEN
HEART NOTES: RED PEONY, PEACH FLOWERS
BASE NOTES: SWEET MUSKS, PRECIOUS AMBER

So at least, you know what are the essences used to create the scent you love. :)

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: ECLAT D' ARPEGE BY LANVIN

Okay so i have this bottle of an expensive looking perfume called ECLAT D' ARPEGE BY LANVIN PARIS.

THIS COSTED ME: 2,250PHP (30ML)
WHERE: LANDMARK
YOU CAN FIND THIS AT: DEPARTMENT STORES NATIONWIDE

THE LOW- DOWN:
As we all know, France produces great fragrance oils imported by the world's leading designer houses to make their perfumes. And French perfumes are waaaaaayyyy ttooooooo EXPENSIVE. So here's something that's affordable and budget- friendly (well, not really). The Lanvin line.

THE REVIEW:
To tell you the truth, despite the large amount of money that it has cost me, I overall love the packaging. But be careful by holding it in the right place or else your 2250php will scatter as broken glasses and spilled perfume on the floor. It has 2 rings on the cap but I still don't understand what its for. And a crystal tops off the cap. The bottle is round shaped with a drawing of an adult and a young girl (could be a representation of the French women).

The smell? Oh it's just like D&G Light Blue. BUT--- It's more feminine and it's not tangy like DKNY, which I like. From the D&G light blue smell, it turns into a floral, cottony soft scent that would be a young adolescent girl, if I were asked to physicalize the scent. IT SMELLS EFFIN' GOOD. No wonder France is the leading distributor of perfume oils all over the world. They have like really good scents!

It's not surprising if it's expensive. It's really worth your money and it really smells luxurious and expensive. If you have some money to spare, I recommend you buy a bottle of this and see for yourself. My husband loved it so much. It's the perfect perfume for him because it's not overpowering and it smells beautiful. Believe in the myth that you must find a scent that will make him turn his head around every time you pass by. And oh, before I forget, this stays for hours and is best sprayed on the skin. It reacts with your skin's chemistry, thus, making it last longer. Now that's a good perfume characteristic. Spraying some on clothes wouldn't hurt as well.

Would I buy this again? Of course I would. I'd like to try my hand on a 100ml. On my birthday. :)

I'LL GIVE THIS A 10 OUT OF 10.
