THE VERDICT:

A brand new and cheap Nars eyeshadow won't come your way everyday so when I saw a couple of Nars eyeshadows for 330php ea. in multiply, I got myself one. And the shade I got is Night Star.

Night star is part of the Night Collection of Nars.

Night star is a pale peach eyeshadow with gold glimmers. The gold glimmers are quite chunky on my hand swatch, but when applied on the eyes, the chunks magically disappear into hints of sparkles that don't look off. The pale peach shade is a good lid wash. Perfect on its own, or as a highlighter. It's a go- to eyeshadow for any day if you just want a sheer wash of color, or a shade that will open up your peepers.

Texture is creamy, and it blends like a dream.

Unfortunately, I have an identical shade, which is MAC Ricepaper. so I have to let go of this one. :(((

Oh well, at least I did not P1150 (original price of Nars eyeshadows).

Okay, so this is one of mom's Xmas presents. I've been eyeing this for quite some time now but I decided to purchase Casablanca instead of this one. I still have my MUFE Lacquered lipstick in 203, which is a fuschia lipstick also.

I was kinda' hesitant to purchase this because I was thinking that it's the same as my MUFE 203 lippie.

But I couldn't resist the lovely pink color and the raves on this lippie shade so I immediately put this in my shopping bag when I was in Rustans.

Schiap is a cool fuschia color. It is more wearable as opposed to MUFE's hot fuschia shade. It has no sparkles or shine whatsoever. It glides on like butter and is quite bright, but I love that it's so wearable. This is the only fuschia shade that will look good on both morena and fair skinned ladies.

I am soo lovin' the color! Pair it with dark blue tops to add funk to a basic and dark color. :)

I used to be gaga over bright coral lippies which explains why I have MAC's Crosswires and Givenchy's Sensual Rose, both that I sold this month since I found 'em too bright already. I'm the type of person who would always end up wearing something mute or warm so the bright coral lippie addiction became a thing of the past in an instant.

I've been eyeing this on the Nars counter for quite sometime now. So when I managed to sell my Crosswires and Sensual Rose, I got myself Casablanca.

Casablanca is described as a classic coral shade in the Nars website.

I've done a review on the quality of Nars lipstick so this review is mainly for the shade. Please do check out the Nars label to read on my reviews on Nars' lippies.

It is indeed, a classic coral shade. It's a lovely warm orange lippie that stands out without looking too unnatural. For some weird reason, it goes so well with my bright/neon blue tank tops and shirts!

The color is L-O-V-E. I am soo in love with Casablanca! It gives my tanned skin a nice warm glow because it enhances it. For fair skinned people, I suggest you get this because it's such a lovely shade that will compliment fair skinned ladies. That is, if you want an orange touch to your overall make- up. 

I'm lovin' this color and I can see myself using it almost everyday. It goes so well with my Nars powder blush in Lustre! It gives my face a warm, summery vibe. 

Well, my love and inclination to this lippie just goes to show that I would always go back to basics and classics (and i love it!) :p

THE VERDICT:

I’ve always been a loyalist to MAC eyeshadows. But since I’m a Gemini, maybe it has some sort of influence on why I would always want to venture into discovering other brands though I find MAC’s eyeshadows pretty much an HG material. It’s also the cheapest eyeshadow amongst the high- end brands in Rustans.

I paid the Nars counter a visit and the friendly SA, Roby, gleefully approached me. He’s such a darling, as always. He’s the Nars version of Dennis, me and mom’s fave Bobbi Brown SA.

Anyhoo, I was eyeing MAC’s Espresso but since I’ve been lemming for Nars eyeshadows for quite sometime now, I gave in to Roby’s good sales talking. 

I got Sophia, in lieu of Espresso. It’s quite pricey, I know. But who can resist the uber cute packaging? It’s like I’m seeing a mini version of my Nars blush right in the palm of my hand! 

As compared to MAC’s eyeshadows, the pans of the Nars eyeshadows are relatively bigger and wider so you get a run for your money. 

Let’s now go to the product. Sophia is described in narscosmetics. com as a Cool Brown shade.

The matte variant has a silky feel. Though it has a drier texture as compared to MAC’s creamy- textured eyeshadows. BUT--- it’s not chalky, which I like. It glides on smoothly and it does pack on some amazing color pay- off when applied on your lids. 

Here’s the swatch on my hand. It’s indeed, a cool brown color. But for me, (I don’t kow if it’s just me) it has a slight orange undertone. Definitely a good basic color in my make- up stash. However, it might appear as a simple, flat brown color that’s absolutely dupe- able by any brand in this hand swatch but for some weird reason, the color changes when it is finally applied on the lids. 

Here’s Sophia when applied lightly. See how gorgeous this color is on the lids? You’re now seeing the true color of the eyeshadow. J 

And here it is when applied heavily. It did pack on some color without looking almost charcoal- ish (which is my problem with some brown eyeshadows, wherein they turn to almost black- gray if you build the color). It’s still a true brown color.

 You can manipulate the intensity of the color by applying it lightly or heavily. It’s perfect for a smoky brown eye make- up look.

 Also, I love that it goes well with my green (Humid) eyeshadow, cream highlighter (Ricepaper), black eyeshadow (Black Tied) and yellow eyeshadow (Chrome Yellow). This color is indeed versatile!It may appear a bit like my MAC Glamour Check!, but it certainly isn’t. Glamour Check has a red undertone with frosting and shimmer while this one is a taupe choco- brown e/s with a slight orange undertone. Sophia is more of a polished wood shade and Glamour Check is more of a leather shade (I hope you get what I mean :p).

Will I buy a Nars eyeshadow again? Probably yes. I really love the colors! I might get another one in the next few days but as far as I’m concerned, I still have to enjoy my Sophia.

I've been lemming for a berry colored blush. It felt like my blush collection is kinda' small and boring so for variety, I decided to add Nars blush in Crazed to my collection. But not in the near future since I don't have the budget yet. And luck is by my side when this Nars Powder blush in Outlaw was sold to me.

Outlaw is a berry- colored blush with a hint of gold shimmer. It's helluva pigmented so I suggest that you go easy on this when applying this because you might end up looking like a clown if you apply too much of it. 

Here's Outlaw on my cheeks. It gives me a nice berry glow. It compliments my tanned skin a lot, which goes to show that this shade is perfect for dark skinned chicas. Berry colored blushes can give you a nice healthy glow when applied correctly.

As always, Nars' blushes are long staying and easy to blend. I only needed a swipe to achieve this effect so this Nars blush will really last me long! :)
