THE DUPERY: DUPES FOR YOUR FAVORITE EXPENSIVE PRODUCTS 4

For this edition of THE DUPERY, Let's look at a dupe for MAC MATTE LIPSTICK IN RUSSIAN RED

PRODUCT DUPE: REVLON'S ALL DAY MATTE LIPSTICK IN REALLY RED

PRICE: AROUND 400PHP+

LOCATION: ALL PERSONAL CARE STORES WITH REVLON OUTLETS NATIONWIDE

It was given to me by a lovely blogger named Dinna, aka max97. I don't know if it's appreciation for my entries or whatsoever but one thing's for sure, this gift made me really happy!

MAC's matte lipstick in Russian Red is an all- time favorite red lipstick. It is a bright red lipstick because of it's blue undertone, making your face look really fresh and pretty once you wear it.

Since MAC is getting nowhere near cheap because they're starting to hike up their prices, I've found a pretty good dupe for it in REVLON ALL- DAY MATTE LIPSTICK IN REALLY RED (006)

L-R: REVLON, MAC

Revlon's all- day matte lipstick in Really Red pays- off as a gorgeous red lipstick. What surprised me the most is, it's almost the same color as my Russian Red.

One thing you're gonna hate about Matte lipsticks is how it dries up your lips. MAC is guilty of this. I can't blame the formula. If it's not as matte as it is, it wouldn't look damn good on the lips.

Revlon's matte formula is sort- of creamy, so this is non- drying. I've road- tested this last night and it didn't dry my lips at all. As compared to the lipstick of formulas of MAC, this lipstick can be classified in the Satin variants because of the creaminess of the consistency. But nevertheless, it looks matte on the lips! And it has good staying power too!

Sorry, It seemed that my editing darkened the MAC lipstick a bit but in actual, the two are almost alike, so therefore, MAC Russian Red is duped!

THE DUPERY: DUPES FOR YOUR FAVE EXPENSIVE PRODUCTS 3

For this edition of THE DUPERY: DUPES FOR YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCTS, Let's look at the gold pigment.

I once had MAC's pigment in Golden Lemon and I've emptied it up. I asked my friend to buy me some in the States but unfortunately, it's one of those popular products of MAC so it's always out of stock.

Besides, MAC is nowhere near cheap and I have to have it once in a show so this drove me to discover PAC by Martha Tilaar.

PAC is a Thai (?) or Malaysian (?) brand. It is also famous in some Asian countries as a professional line used for the Theatre, Film, Magazines and other professional uses.

I once passed by a PAC stand in Watson's and saw that these powder eyeshadows were on sale. From 600php+, it's being sold for 350php. I immediately went and had a MAC Golden Lemon dupe in mind.

I must say, I wasn't dissapointed.

I bought this PAC Powder Eyeshadow in No. 04. It's a yellow gold eyeshadow with flecks of gold shimmer.

You'll love how rich the pigment and how good the color pay- off is of PAC Cosmetics. With regards to the staying power, It's relatively good. I use PAC as my gold eyeshadow for my theatre plays so you have an idea that this has a pretty good quality. And a little goes a long way so a pot will last you long.

MAC's pigment will always be good but PAC is one of the best cheap brands out there. Besides, Golden Lemon is unavailable in the country and is expensive. No. 04 has proven to dupe Golden Lemon at around 99%. And did I mention that the powder eyeshadows have a lot of colors?

So are you lemming for a gold pigment? Then hoard or haul once you go to PAC. You'll love their make- up line. :)

THE DUPERY: DUPES FOR YOUR FAVE EXPENSIVE PRODUCTS 2

For this edition of THE DUPERY: DUPES FOR YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCTS, Let's look at black- red lipsticks.

For those aspiring MUAs, whatever genre or style is important to be studied and looked into for you are into the art of make- up. Unless you'd be doing fashion make- up only. But different styles of make- ups that have emerged are more or less, inspired of a style that has once set the trend. The 1920's look is one of these classic and iconic eras of image and style. Red- black lips, thickly- lined lids, crimped bobs and thin brows. Think Betty Boop.

The thickly- lined lids was believed (some claim) to be the inspiration of the smokey- eye look, and is probably one of the most popular looks to hit the runway, magazines and is worn by a lot of celebrities and icons. Angelina Jolie is one of the stars who forever sports the lined- eye look whether on screen or on the red carpet. Punks, goths and rockers alike would sport this look. Through time, the meaning of the 1920's look evolved from a standard of beauty to a symbol of mystery and rebelling to one of the sexiest eye make- up looks.

I must say I have the guts to wear dark red lipsticks. I love how it makes my teeth look white. It may look too strong for an everyday make- up but I love how it gives me a feeling of sexiness and sophistication, and it makes me feel mystical. (the power of colors :D)

For those who will do the 1920's or vintage looks in the near future, the dark red lipstick will be your best friend. With just a swipe of this color, it makes a whole lot of difference on a face. The women of the 20's weren't very partial to eye and face make- up. The lips was paid more attention to during those times.

MAC MATTE LIPSTICK IN DIVA

I personally love MAC's matte lipstick in Diva. It's the perfect 1920's red lipstick for me. The color pay- off is gorgeous. It's matte and this color stays long. It retails for 900php.

But we have to admit that MAC is too expensive (not to mention they're hiking their prices this July) so here's a dupe that I found lying somewhere in my drawer. :)

THE FACE SHOP LIPSTICK IN 8 (JAZZY WINE)

The Face Shop's lipsticks have always proven to me that they provide good dupes for red lipsticks. I made an entry here before about it's Color Care lipstick  duping MAC's Ruby Woo. And now, somewhere in the lipstick counter of TFS (you'll really have to look for this one because they don't have much of this) is this gray metallic tube of lipstick in the shade Jazzy Wine. This costs 295php- 300php (I forgot the price but I'm pretty sure it within the quotation I gave you). It feels satin-y on the lips and once applied, it pays off as a moist- looking lipstick. I'm surprised because the color pay- off is good. The pigmentation is rich. And what surprised me the most is how it duped MAC's Diva.

Here's the swatch that proves Jazzy Wine is 98.9% close to Diva.

Therefore, Diva is duped!

You'll love how dark red lipsticks will spice up a white outfit and if you like sporting goth or rocker styles, this would do you good as well. And for those who are into being MUAS. If you'll need one in the near future, and would want to save, don't forget this entry. :)

THE DUPERY: DUPES FOR YOUR FAVE EXPENSIVE PRODUCTS 1

Hey! I'm doing my first ever issue on dupes. I'd like to call this entry (hopefully, for the ff. entries as well) THE DUPERY: DUPES FOR YOUR FAVE PRODUCTS 1.

In this issue, let's look at MAC's Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo. This is probably one of MAC's lovely colors. In my opinion, it's probably one of the best red l/s's around. It glides on as a very vibrant cherry red l/s. And I'm pretty sure it will look good on any skintone. It's a matter of carrying it confidently.

RIGHT: MAC RETRO MATTE LIPSTICK RUBY WOO

Times are getting hard, so we have to save. We have to admit, though MAC and cosmetics makes us happy, at the end of the day, after a haul, we'll somehow realize that we've spent so much on our shopping. Though overall it makes us happy, we still can't let go of the thought that we've spent thousands (again) on our addictions.

SWATCHES L-R: MAC, TFS

There will always be a good buy. Cheap but with great quality. In a weird way, I'm kinda' applying what one of my mentors have told me in the theatre. "Every thing in this world was already done and created. So if something's created or done and it's able to pass off as something new , it's probably created and done with so much creativity. Perhaps MAC might have produced some of the best l/s's in the world but there will always be inspirations behind their creations and there will always be other brands producing the same things the same way MAC does (but at a cheaper cost). There are so many things left undiscovered in this world (I hope ya get my point hehehe) :)

Can you tell that which is which? MAC's on the upper lip and TFS is on the lower lip :)

Let's look at THE FACE SHOP COLOR CARE COLLECTION MATTE LIPSTICK IN 301

The Color Care collection is the lip moisturizing line of TFS. It's probably one of the best products by TFS. Their Matte variants have good pigment, staying power and smells good (lavender- ish smelling). When I ran out of Russian Red, heaven sent me Color Care l/s in 301. Check out my reviews on Red Lipsticks in the Spend vs. Save entries.

MAC Ruby Woo was bought along with MAC velvet eyeshadow in Trax. It's my mom's. I'm just so amazed how it was "duped" by TFS that's why I made this review.

The slight difference is, MAC's matte l/s stays true to the texture that helps in making the color look stronger and more vibrant, while TFS's has a very very very very slight moist texture that makes it seem shiny at a closer glance. But don't you worry, it still looks matte from afar.

If you're a Ruby Woo fan or a red l/s fan but on a budget, I suggest you get this lovely TFS Color Care l/s in 301. The texture of MAC might be nicer but there's almost no difference when it comes to the color
