AN ANTHOLOGY OF MY THEATRE PLAYS

I'd like to share to you my dear bloggers some pictures from the pictorials of my theatre plays. It was so unfortunate that I wasn't able to document some but here are some that I've managed to save and find. Enjoy! :)

PASSION OF THE CHRIST/ PASYON NI KRISTO BY TONY MABESA

A medieval play that talks about the life of Jesus Christ, his miracles and his death and resurrection. I played the role of Maria Salome in this play. This is also the play where I met my husband and true love, Randy. He played the role of John The Beloved. :)

ISANG PANAGINIP NA FILI: ISANG BAGONG MUSIKAL BY FLOY QUINTOS

Fili is a play on how El Filibusterismo came about. It is set in Biarritz, Paris, the place where Rizal spent most of his time writing the novel. It featured Tunying, a fellow room mate, who is indifferent to the problems of his country. One fateful night, Rizal opens to Tunying the story of El Filibusterismo. With the glasses of Simoun given by Rizal to Tunying, Tunying is transformed to the world of Donya Victorina, Basilio, Kabesang Tales, Huli and Maria Clara. His eyes were opened to the sickness of his country and has become a changed man ever since.

This is a beautiful pic by a friend. I played in the chorus parts here. :)

ATANG: ISANG DULANG MAY MUSIKA BY ALEXANDER CORTEZ

This is the opening scene with a fellow Theatre Arts student. I played the role of Evie, Atang's daughter and also played in the chorus parts as well. The one below is a profile pic that can be seen in the souvenir programs. Atang is all about the life and legend of the National Artist for the theatre, Honorata "Atang Dela Rama. It's all about heritage, appreciating one's own culture and cultivating it. :)

FAVORITE LINE IN THE PLAY: 

"GUMAWA KA NG SARILING MONG MISTERYO. MAS MABUTING MAY ISANG MAKAALALA SA IYO KAYSA SA LIBO- LIBONG MABILIS NAMANG MAKAKALIMOT."

110: A NEW MUSICAL BY J. VICTOR VILLAREAL

This is one of my profile pictures in the pictorial. I played the role of Laura Kathlyn Bautista. 110 tackled the lives of the different people in the Theatre Arts course where they share their triumphs, failures and dreams. It's all about not losing hope and reaching your dream at whatever cost.

Favorite line in the song:

PATAK: A NEW MUSICAL BY PATRICK VALERA

This is a scene shot from Dulaang Laboratoryo's PATAK. DL is a laboratory arm of Dulaang UP where students can direct, act and design. It has long been a breeding ground for all the aspiring artists in the theatre.

Patak is all about unconditional love and is merely a suggestion of what true love is all about. It also tackles spirituality and love for one's self. No matter what happens and how long time will take, true love will wait. I played Lumnay here, an Ifugao princess who is barren and has to let her husband go to be married to another woman in order for the race of the kings to continue. Their marriage may have been broken, but their love for each other will forever last and transcends all known reasons in this world. But by the painful rule of tradition, they have to part.

FAVORITE LINE IN THE PLAY:

"HABANG WALA KA PA, MAGPAPAKASAL MUNA AKO SA AKING PAG- IISA."

BASILIA NG MALOLOS: ISANG SARSWELA

This play is all about history. It talks of the 20 women of Malolos who fought the suppression of the women in Spanish era Philippines. I played here Rufina Reyes, One of the revolutionary women. This first picture shows me as a saint in the play. The picture below is one of the final scenes in the play (I'm the one in the middle with a pink baro top) :)

I have now an upcoming play and I soooo love the pictures! Unfortunately, I can't post it yet because there are no publicity releases yet. I'll post it once DEAD STARS/ SEPANG LOCA is finally released in the papers. :)
